L’exposition « Voir loin» fait référence de façon poétique et conceptuelle à la dimension incommensurable et monumentale de la nature canadienne. Le titre de l’exposition « Voir loin » se rapporte d’une part, métaphoriquement, à une vision future, à long terme, de notre relation durable avec l’environnement naturel, et d’autres, littéralement à la profondeur des étendues naturelles du territoire canadien.
La première œuvre de l’exposition met de l’avant l’accumulation numérique d’une matière tangible, le ruban adhésif «duct tape». Ici sublimé au-delà de sa fonction usuelle et périssable, le matériau compose une installation photographique constituée de multiples fragments répétitifs. Entrecoupées par des espacements au mur qui rappellent abstraitement la multitude des troncs des arbres constituant une forêt, les différentes parties sont traversées d’une ligne blanche centrale se décomposant dans l’image, créant un horizon aux allures pixellisées. Au cœur de la seconde œuvre de l’exposition, une photographie de grand format présentant la cime d’arbres ainsi qu’un ciel bleu crée un effet de trompe l’œil, simulant une ouverture monumentale dans le mur de la galerie. Celle-ci laisse entendre la présence sous-jacente d’un paysage naturel hors contexte à l’extérieur de l’immeuble, directement derrière ses murs. Inatteignable et fictif, le paysage suggéré s’offre en contraste à l’espace architectural, créant un clin d’œil ludique et contemporain à la conscience écologique collective.

The exhibition « See Far » refers in a poetic and conceptual way to the immeasurable and monumental dimension of Canadian nature. The title of the exhibition refers, on the one hand, metaphorically to a future, long-term vision of our sustainable relationship with the natural environment, and on the other hand, literally to the depth of the natural expanse of the Canadian territory.
The first work in the exhibition features the digital accumulation of a tangible material, duct tape. Here sublimated beyond its usual and perishable function, the material composes a photographic installation made up of multiple repetitive fragments. Interspersed by spaces on the wall that abstractly recall the multitude of tree trunks that make up a forest, the different parts are crossed by a central white line that decomposes in the image, creating a horizon with a pixelated appearance. At the heart of the second work in the exhibition, a large-format photograph presenting the tops of trees and a blue sky creates a trompe l'oeil effect, simulating a monumental opening in the gallery wall. This suggests the underlying presence of an out-of-context natural landscape outside the building, directly behind its walls. Unattainable and fictitious, the suggested landscape offers itself in contrast to the architectural space, creating a playful and contemporary nod to the collective ecological consciousness.
